How to Improve your English by reading books

When Ernest Hemingway said, “There is no friend as loyal as a book”, he was talking about the emotional attachment one can form towards a book. How the books we read shape our minds and thoughts. How they are our loyal friends, always there for us when we need them.

Reading books is not just a good hobby, but something that can add a lot of value to your life. There are many ways you can make reading a part of your life. From listening to audiobooks to joining a book club, there are a number of ways to develop the habit of reading.

Now you might ask yourself, how can I make reading books a part of my daily life, or how can I get my child to read more books?

Well, we are here to help you with just that.

We are The Slango Club, an online Book Club for everyone!

Before we dig into what we do here, let’s start from the very beginning and understand what a Book Club is and how it can benefit you in your life.

What is a Book Club?

In simple terms, a Book Club is a reading group, where a number of people get together to read and talk about books based on different genres.

What do they do in a Book Club?

The members of the book club choose a specific book to read and discuss during their meet-ups. Usually, Book club meet-ups happen monthly so as to maintain consistency and also give members enough time to finish up their reading. There are even book clubs dedicated to particular authors or genres where they discuss books based on those particular topics.

Benefits of Joining a Book Club:

  • Make new friends and meet like-minded people.
  • Gives you a wider perspective since you get to discuss wider themes and character arcs of a story.
  • Improve your writing skills by reading new genres and writing styles.
  • Improve your English by joining a book club and reading books as it helps you incorporate new words into your everyday life
  • Broadens your horizon by helping you get out of your comfort zone and read outside your own interests.
  • A break from everyday life by providing you with an escape and putting you on a journey toward something wonderful.

Now that we have that sorted, let’s discuss what the Slango Club actually is.

The Slango Club:

Are you a bookworm whose nose is always buried in a book?

We, at The Slango Club, help you get together with like-minded folks who love stories just as much as you do.
